To summarise the story of Haggai chapter 1 and the gravity of the assignment involved
in rebuilding the Temple, it would require something beyond mere reasoning. When we
consider the decay the once celebrated and palatial edifice has become and the rubble
that is left of what used to be the cynosure of all eyes but now a mere caricature. When
we imagine what resources and energy would be required to rebuild it, we will agree
that it is a tall order. Presently, when we look at the harsh economy, the uncontrolled
devaluation of Naira, deep poverty in the land, poor economic situation, unfavourable
business climate and the challenge of insecurity, we are left to conclude that, as a
nation we are facing tough and turbulent times. If there is anything we need now, it is
faith. We must transact by faith!
